Overview

Vertosoft LLC is seeking a Data / Cost Analyst to work as part of a team that analyzes data involved in the tracking of fielded Army weapons and material systems and developing operating and support costs for systems to be used in the Army cost analysis and budgeting processes. The Analyst will participate in data collection, modeling, analysis and product generation. Organize and translate data into useful automated information. Conduct analyses including defining parameters of requested data output and analysis. Assist in preparation of reports, briefings, and documentation deliverables.  The ideal candidate should be able to learn and provide input on how to create new sources of data-driven innovation through technology and analytics that would add value for our customers. They will explore new ways to analyze data using statistical methods, machine learning and predictive models.

This position can be performed remotely or on-site.

Data/Cost Analyst Job Responsibilities

  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
  • Must have or able to obtain and maintain a security+ certification
  • BS/BA in related degree such as Data Analytics, Operations Research, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, etc. (Other education, commensurate experience and demonstrated ability of individual may be substituted)
  • Minimum of 2 years professional work experience providing data analytics services.
  • CDFM, CCEA, DAWIA or other relevant certification preferred.

Required Skills

  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analysis skills
  • Passion for solving problems with data and a high level of curiosity
  • Experience with data cleaning, model testing, results presentation and documentation
  • Ability in one or more programming languages for data analysis such as R or Python (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn)
  • Experience using SQL
  • Experience developing forecasting models
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a lifelong learner, willing to share and grow the knowledge of those around them 
  • Train on software and reporting systems. 
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team on a fast-paced project
  • Support requirements and metrics development, definition, data quality assessment, and strategic analysis. 
  • Collect and analyze data to produce forecasts, assessments, recommendations, and reports.  
  • Role may include serving as a subject matter resource on project, updating project databases, and researching/analyzing program management matters.  
  • Candidate must be passionate about helping others solve problems and gain insights.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or QLIK
  • Experience in budgeting or cost-analysis
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Army’s PPBE process
  • Experience with Army Acquisition costing and enterprise data
  • Experience with machine learning
